Pharaoh's Death and the Weeping of Skies

Did You Know?

The Pyramid Texts, discovered in the 19th century, revealed that ancient Egyptians believed the sky and earth wept when Pharaohs died - a pagan belief that the Quran specifically rejected 1200 years before these texts were discovered.

فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنظَرِينَ

And neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they reprieved.

Quran 44:29

Explanation

This verse specifically refutes an ancient Egyptian belief that was unknown to the world until the discovery of hieroglyphics in 1822. The fact that the Quran could accurately reference and reject a belief that was literally locked away in undecipherable hieroglyphics for over a millennium is a remarkable historical miracle.

Scientific Details

Historical Context

In the 7th century CE when the Quran was revealed, Egyptian hieroglyphics had been lost to history for centuries. The Rosetta Stone wasn't discovered until 1799, and hieroglyphics weren't deciphered until 1822 by Jean-François Champollion.

Pyramid Texts Discovery

The Pyramid Texts, discovered in the 19th century, are the oldest known religious texts in the world. They contained detailed accounts of ancient Egyptian beliefs about death, including the belief that the sky and earth wept when Pharaohs died.

Double Verification

The miracle is verified both historically through the discovery of the Pyramid Texts, and scientifically through modern space research which shows that celestial bodies do emit electromagnetic waves that can be converted to sound - but not specifically when someone dies.
